The day begins with a visit to Hagia Sophia, once the largest cathedral in Byzantium, later converted to a mosque in 1453 by the Ottoman Empire, and now open as a museum where both Christian and Islamic elements can be observed. You will then visit the Blue Mosque, Istanbul’s only mosque with six minarets, built by Sedefkar Mehmet Aga for Sultan Ahmed I in the early 17th century. Continuing on, you will see the Hippodrome, once the center for sports and political events during the Eastern Roman Empire.
